Summer party & Tanner’s Christening

On August 30, the annual summer party took place, organized by the current trainees of HELLER-LEATHER.

The christening was delayed a bit because the former apprentice, who should be baptized, Mr Mathias Weichelt, currently makes his leather technician in Freiberg and could not start his journey back home as early as planned. Therefore, the program was changed at short notice.
First, 3 non-cash prizes were raffled among the employees who submitted suggestions for production optimizing in 2018. After that, the barbecue started and around 16.15 o’clock the much acclaimed Tanner’s Christening finally started.
At the " Tanner’s Christening (German: Gerbertaufe)" all former apprentices are christened. After the announcement of the traditional baptismal claim, the baptized person is freed from the study dust by washing and the baptism is sealed with a dive in a water basin. The Anabaptists prepare the candidates for the hard journey of working life. By this baptism, the nonsense should be washed out of the head.

In best summer weather the following colleagues were christened this year:
• Nico Schuenemann (Industrial Clerk)
• Marc Schneider (machine and plant operator)
• Mathias Weichelt (completed his training as a specialist in leather production and tanning technology in 2018 and in 2019 passed his industrial master's degree in chemistry)
